Replace the Word

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:1-5 NIV

This scripture always sat strange with my thoughts. Such a funny place to put this. Doesn’t this belong in the first chapter in Genesis? Seems legit. Only, now I see after a study in the book of John, that this is just where it needed to be. I even went so far as to assume that if I replace the ‘Word’, He/Him and light with the name Jesus it makes total sense! Big lightbulb moment here. Simplistic? Yes, it is elementary, but still just as valid in making the point. To me this change helps to illuminate the truth my heart needed to see. So I present my version:

1In the beginning was the Word Jesus, and the Word Jesus was with God, and the Word Jesus was God. 2He Jesus was with God in the beginning. 3Through him Jesus all things were made; without him Jesus nothing was made that has been made. 4In him Jesus was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5The light Jesus shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:1-5 NIV

Just let that sit with you a bit longer. Jesus is, was and will always be part of the plan. He was with God and was God before life began on our little planet. If you ever need an extra boost of God loving power try taking you life verse or one you choose to stand on and personalize it for you. I’ll leave you today with my life verse customized for me.

5 Jennifer, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Be in peace today sisters and brothers. You are loved, cared for and needed. HUGS!
